Make Friends with Your Sewing Machine

   Do you really want to sew but your machine scares you a little? Make friends with it! We will practice winding a bobbin, threading your machine and utilizing some of the different stitches your machine can do.  This class will leave you feeling more confident and ready to sew some of those great projects you've been hoping to make!
   Materials: Your sewing machine with owner's manual, thread, bobbins, scrap material, sewing/fabric scissors.  NOTE: Please be sure your machine is in good working condition. If it has been in storage for a while, take it to be serviced before class.
 

Needle-Felting
with Wanda Halten

   Come learn the basics of needle-felting with Wanda and take home your own adorable needle-felted sheep!
   Materials: Fiber Trends felting kit with foam block and felting needles.  NOTE: There is a $5.00 material fee payable to the instructor on the day of class.
 

Sew Your Own Totebag
with Lorraine

   Everybody needs a totebag (or 2 or 3) to carry your groceries, your knitting or anything else!  Make extras for gifts or just for fun!
   Materials: One piece of heavyweight fabric cut 17" by 30", one piece of middleweight cotton cut 17" by 30" for the lining, and two pieces fabric cut 4" by 28" for the handles, pins, measuring tape, your sewing machine, thread and fabric scissors.

 
Make a Nine Patch Pillow
with Lorraine
Saturday, May 5, 2012, 10:30am to 1:00pm Cost: $35

 
  Whip up this quick 15" square pillow with alternating cotton print and linen squares. Vary the print to make throw pillows for every room, every season!
  Materials: 1/2 yard of solid linen cut into the following pieces: 2 pieces 15 1/2" by 11" and 5 pieces 5 1/2" square, one fat quarter OR 5 pieces of fabric at least 6" square cut into 5 pieces 5 1/2" square, pins, measuring tape, your sewing machine, thread and fabric scissors.  You will also need a 16" square pillow form.

 

SEMINAR INFORMATION

-To ensure your place in class, payment must be made in full before the day of class.  No refunds will be given if you cannot attend, unless your space can be filled from the waiting list.
-Class size is limited, so sign up early.  Please call the store during store hours to sign up.
-Please be careful about where you park.  Chatham is strict about parking limits (where you see the signs for 2 hour parking).  You can park in the area on the far side of Kinderhook Bank all day.
